But if you haven’t climbed 36 floors in a burning building to save a lost kitten, haven’t been brutally tortured in a P.O.W. camp and lived to talk about it, nor have you swallowed a live hand grenade while being shot out of a cannon into a punch bowl filled with M & M’s, guess where you’ll be…lumped in with the rest of the ‘regular folk.’
It sounds harsh, but it’s true.
Unfortunately, many so-called speaker coaches are so hungry to make a fast buck from your hard-earned money, they sell you on the dream of being on Oprah or The Today Show next week, without revealing to you that it requires a marketable, “fresh” concept and a rock-solid strategy. Please don’t listen to people who will tell you what you want to hear as long as your checks cash on time.
If your goal is to become a top speaker, you need to know that the speaking business is no different than any other high-profile industry….
If you’re not a Superstar, Celebrity, nor a National Hero, there is a separate set of rules that apply to you.

We ‘regular folk’ only have our platform skills to differentiate ourselves from other speakers. At first, I hovered around the same level in my speaking career.
